Adirondacks Northville Placid Trail, NY

Aug 23 - Aug 30, 2020 -- $1250 ★★★

The Northville Placid Trail in New York's Adirondack State Park is a long distance hiking trail that uncharacteristically seeks the low ground instead of summiting any and all peaks it encounters. This means that elevations fluctuate less and that there's almost always water nearby.

On our trek we will explore the quieter section of the trail between Piseco and Northville (not that anyone knows where either of these are). For less-visited wilderness in the warm summer months, few destinations compare.

The Adirondacks are a place that bears, moose, beavers, raptors and mosquitoes (sigh) call home. For quiet adventure during the short summer hiking season, join us on the Northville Placid Trail.

Weather

Weather is always an important concern when hiking. Expect daytime hiking temperatures in the 70s and nighttime temperatures in the 50s. However, be prepared for the possibility of day temperatures as high as 90 and as low as 30, with a reasonable chance of rainfall. Here is the average July weather for Northville, NY. Expect it to be a little cooler in the backcountry punctuated by warm sunny weather and/or rain.

Cost

$1250 per person double occupancy. Here, double occupancy means that you will share a hotel room with another trip participant. You will also be responsible for transportation to and from Albany Airport (ALB) as well as personal equipment, restaurant meals (typically 2 dinners) and any gratuities for guides. You may also be charged for any parking charges for leaving your car at the hotel all week if you drive.

Covered expenses include 2 nights in a hotel, 6 days of trail meals, ground transportation, permits, camping fees and awesome guides.

Note

Although daily mileage appears to be moderate, do not underestimate the difficulty of the terrain. The trail may be full of rocks, roots, mud or all of these things. We find that terrain is the most difficult impediment most participants face. And then it might rain.
